  • Aquille Carr was waived Friday by the Delaware 87ers, the NBA D-League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 5-foot-6 Carr was averaging 10.7  points and 1.9 assists for Delaware.

Carr was selected by Delaware  with the ninth pick of the third round in the 2013 NBA Development League Draft.

He was one of three NBA Draft-eligible players playing this season in the NBA Development League and one of two players to play this season in the NBADL without having played in college.

Chase Jeter  and his 2015 teammate Stephen Zimmerman will be on national TV Friday night when Bishop Gorman (Nev.) meets Carlton Bragg and St. Joseph’s (Ohio) in the Cancer Research Classic in Wheeling, W.V.

The game is slated for 7 p.m. on ESPNU.

“It’s a great opportunity for my teammates and I,” the 6-foot-10 Jeter told SNY.tv. “We are all competitors so we are ready for a chance to compete on a national scale and to prove ourselves.”

Virginia Tech-bound Justin Bibbs is ready for the jump to the ACC to help out a Hokies team that returns 12 of their 14 players next year.

Bibbs, a 6-foot-5 lefty from No. 1-ranked Montverde Academy (FL), is the third member of a recruiting class that includes Jalen Hudson from St. Vincent-St. Mary (OH) and TJ Lang of McGill Toolen (AL), all three of whom know how to contribute to a winning program.

South Florida has another top prospect at the point guard position in Haanif Cheatham.

Cheatham, ranked No. 29 in the Class of 2015 by 247 Sports, is a 6-foot-5 lefty out of Pembroke Pines Charter and has led his team to a 9-2 season, averaging 23 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists a game along the way.

A long, smooth lefty from Puerto Rico, Cheatham told SNY.tv that he has been watching a lot of point guards from the ACC and the Big 12 recently, and he sees the similarities.

Junior forward Chane Behanan could transfer to an ACC school but not an AAC school if he opts to leave, Louisville sports information director Kenny Klein told SNY.tv.

“We are not trying to restrict his schools,” Klein said by email. “Coach [Rick] Pitino said that on Monday when talking about Chane. At the time, we were uncertain which transfer rules would apply. We would not restrict Chane from an ACC school, but his transfer would be affected under AAC policy. We would amend his release to reflect that as it is simply a misunderstanding to assure what rules prevailed.”

Louisville is currently in the AAC but joins the ACC next season, so ACC transfer rules don’t yet apply to the Cardinals.

Earlier Thursday, SNY.tv quoted a letter sent by John C. Carns, Louisville Senior Associate AD for Compliance, that said Behanan could not transfer to either the ACC or the AAC.

Montverde (FL) Academy is known for getting the best players from all over the country, the most recent of which is West Coast stud Ahmaad Rorie and he has made a huge impact for the No. 1-ranked Eagles.

Rorie, ranked No. 89 in the Class of 2014 by 247 Sports, is a Cal signee that stands at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds. He starts alongside LSU-bound Jalyn Patterson and Ben Simmons, Ohio State-bound D’Angelo Russell and Virginia Tech- bound Justin Bibbs.

“I had heard about Coach [Kevin] Boyle and how he had coached Kyrie [Irving] and everyone he had coached,” Rorie told SNY.tv. “I always wanted to play at a prep school my senior year so I could get more prepared for college.”
