Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim has already said he would like for his team to play in the NCAA East Regional at Madison Square Garden in late March.

While it is still a little early to worry about who will play in what region, the Orange have held up their end of the bargain as a potential No. 1 seed down the road. On Saturday, the second-ranked Orange moved to 16-0 with a convincing 57-45 thrashing of the University of North Carolina in front of the sixth-largest crowd in Carrier Dome history, 32, 121.

ACC Preseason Player of the Year C.J. Fair led four players in double figures with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Jerami Grant had 12 points and 12 rebounds for Syracuse, which registered its fourth-best start since Boeheim took over at his Alma mater in 1976-77.

PADUCAH, Ky. – Carlton Bragg has a slew of high-major Division 1 offers, but there are two he still wants to land.

    Kentucky and Syracuse.

“I’m playing my butt off, I don’t know what else to do. They keep saying they’re working on 2014,” the 6-foot-8 Bragg said in reference to Kentucky after going for 18 points and 13 rebounds as Villa Angela St. Joseph’s lost to Chicago Curie, 66-63, Friday night in the Mustang Madness showcase.

Asked if Kentucky was the one offer he wanted, Bragg said, “Yes.”

Asked what other offers he wants, Bragg said, “Syracuse. I wanted to go there but I guess they’re not interested in me.”

LAKELAND, Fla.- Corey Sanders returned to action with a bang on Friday night, going coast to coast after a Bartow (Fla.) missed free throw to lay it in with .5 seconds left to give Kathleen (Fla.) the win 62-61, moving their record to 13-3 on the year in front of a sold out crowd.

Sanders was out for almost a month and a half waiting to be cleared to play after he transferred from IMG Academy (Fla.) to Kathleen (Fla.).

Manhattan’s George Beamon has a “mild shoulder sprain” and is listed as day-to-day, head coach Steve Masiello told SNY.tv Friday night.

Beamon, averaging a team-best 20.1 points, will not play Sunday against Marist.

“We’re going to be cautious with him because of what he went through last year when we brought him back too soon from the ankle sprain and it turned into a fracture,” Masiello said.

“He could be back on the court next week or in two weeks. It depends on how he recovers. We have to wait for the swelling to go down.”

Beamon injured the shoulder in Thursday’s loss to Quinnipiac.

Tyus BAttleOne of the elite players in the Class of 2016, Tyus Battle is planning upcoming visits to both Syracuse and Ohio State, his father told SNY.tv.

Gary Battle said they are planning on going to the Duke-Syracuse game Feb. 1 and the Michigan State-Ohio State game March 9.

Syracuse and Ohio State are near the top of a group of schools in the mix for the 6-foot-5 Battle, who went for 22 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and four steals Thursday when Gill St. Bernard’s beat Hunterdon Central, 67-53. That group also includes Indiana, Villanova, Michigan, UConn and SMU.

“Syracuse, he’s top priority for Syracuse,” Gary Battle said. “They want him to come in and play the point.
