WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — R.J. Davis, the 6-foot point guard from Archbishop Stepinac, has trimmed his list to four schools and is in the process of taking home visits before his official visits.

Davis is down to Georgetown, Marquette, North Carolina and Pittsburgh, he told ZAGSBLOG after an open gym Monday. Pittsburgh was four deep with head coach Jeff Capel and three assistants and Georgetown was four deep with Patrick Ewing and three assistants for the run.

“It means a lot, just to come out four deep, the whole coaching staff,” Davis said. “It just shows how much of a priority I am for both programs. It just means a lot.”

Davis was headed to a home visit with the Pittsburgh staff after the open gym, and will have home visits with Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski on Tuesday, with North Carolina’s Roy Williams and Hubert Davis on Wednesday and with Georgetown next week.

Ranked No. 39 in 2020 by ESPN.com, has already taken an official to Georgetown and has upcoming officials to Pitt (9/20-9/22), Marquette (9/27-9/29) and UNC (10/11-10/13).

    He broke down each school:

Pittsburgh: “I’m a priority for them. They feel like I can make a key impact, a lead guard like Xavier Johnson. Whether he’s leaving or not, they feel if he stays I can play alongside with him.”

Marquette: “They feel Markus [Howard] is leaving so I can make an immediate impact as a freshman. They have a lot of seniors leaving but they have a couple of veterans, and I’m a priority for them as well.”

Georgetown: “Same message as well. They love my game, very genuine people. They feel I can play alongside James Akinjo and Mac McClung and help turn Georgetown around in the Big East.”

UNC: “They’re trying to recruit two guards because obviously Cole [Anthony] is projected to go to the NBA, so they’re looking for two guards to come in and play alongside each other. They’re recruiting Cade Cunningham and Caleb Love. I know they feel that was a downfall last year with Coby White being their only point guard, to have two guards next year.”

He has no timetable on a decision and says he plans to take all of his visits.

“I’m going to go back down to Georgetown for an unofficial,” he said. “Me and my family are still scheduling that. Then we will sit down with my family, evaluate each school and go from there.”
