Former top-25 prospect and Louisville transfer center Dennis Evans has committed to Grand Canyon, per his Instagram page.

The 7-foot-1, 215-pound big man played in just seven games for Louisville last season due to health concerns and averaged 1.6 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 9.1 minutes per game.

Last season was his first year in college and Evans will be joining Grand Canyon as a sophomore.

This is the second time in two years coach Bryce Drew has taken a shot on a former highly-touted player as the GCU coach. Former Kansas and DePaul guard Tyon Grant-Foster was sidelined due to health concerns as well and was able to come back and propel GCU all the way to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Evans and Drew will try to replicate that. In high school, Evans was a top-25 recruit out of Hillcrest (CA) and was considered one of the best shot blockers and defensive playmakers in the country.
