  • Rashad Vaughn is staying in Las Vegas for college.

“Next year I’ll be attending UNLV,” Vaughn said on CBSSports Network.

“Me and Coach [Dave] Rice kicked off a relationship from the jump and I just liked everything he was talking about. And I liked the blueprint that he set out for me. And me and family, we just decided that this was the best for me.”

The 6-foot-5 Vaughn also listed Iowa State, North Carolina and Kentucky, but will stay in Las Vegas for college after transferring to prep power Findlay Prep from Robbinsdale (MN) Cooper for his senior season.

Thon MakerThon Maker, the consensus No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2016, will meet with Australian National Team coach Andrej Lemanis next month about a potential future role with the team.

The meeting will take place March 9-11 in Virginia, where the 7-foot, 208-pound Maker attends the Carlisle (Va.) School, Ed Smith, Maker’s legal guardian, told SNY.tv.

“The Olympic coach is going to come in March and lay out a plan for Thon so that’s exciting,” Smith, who lived in Australia for 22 years and met Maker there, told SNY.tv

Duke, Kentucky, Kansas and Memphis are among those now calling on 2015 Las Vegas High small forward Ray Smith, Dream Vision director Clay Williams told SNY.tv.

The 6-foot-7 Smith chimes in at No. 29 on the Scout.com Top 100 rankings for 2015 and Williams told SNY.tv he’s a future pro.

Williams said Duke associate head coach Steve Wojciechowski may “kill two birds with one stone” by coming out to see both Smith and 2015 center Chase Jeter — No. 18 on Scout — sometime this spring. Jeter is due to visit Duke March 8 for the North Carolina game, and Williams said Duke “loves” him.

Chase Jeter is set to visit Duke March 8 for the North Carolina game and his AAU coach says Duke “loves” the 6-foot-10 Las Vegas Bishop Gorman big man.

“Of course, Duke loves Chase,” Clay Williams of Dream Vision told SNY.tv. “Duke really likes Chase Jeter.”

He added: “Chase is a 3.85 student so Chase is a very academic-oriented. His mother is a teacher, his dad works for the Sheriff’s department. He has great structure and Chase is humble so I’m sure academics really matter to Chase as well. He’s a well-spoken kid.

Stephen Zimmerman, the 7-foot center from Las Vegas Bishop Gorman ranked No. 2 in the Class of 2015 by Rivals, says three coaches have made a strong impression on him and his family during recruiting.

“Coach [John] Calipari from Kentucky, Coach [Rick] Pitino from Louisville and Coach [Sean] Miller from Arizona are a few,” Zimmerman told MidMajorHoopsReport.com in a written interview.

Zimmerman says he’s planning to take a few unofficials in the summer and then officials next fall.

Marvin Clark, a 6-foot-6 post-graduate small forward from Bel Aire (KS) Sunrise Christian, is targeting a decision next month, Sunrise Christian coach Kyle Lindsted told SNY.tv Tuesday morning.

Clark, a onetime Oregon pledge, is considering Iowa State, Kansas State, Indiana, Seton Hall and Ole Miss.

“He’s going to take all his visits,” Lindsted said, adding a decision will likely come in “mid-March.”

Ibrahima Diallo, a 6-foot-10, 225-pound center originally from Senegal, has verbally committed to Rutgers, becoming the fourth pledge for coach Eddie Jordan as the school enters the Big Ten next season.

Diallo, 18, is now at Quality Education (N.C.), the same school that produced St. John’s junior Sir’Dominic Pointer, among others.

“Yes, sir,” Diallo, who took his visit to Rutgers in November, told SNY.tv by phone. “I looked at the team situation. I really like the way Eddie Jordan coaches. I really like the team situation the way they treat me. I really like the school academically.”

Diallo said he also had interest from Marquette, Oklahoma State and Nebraska, among others.
