  • Jerron Wilbut, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound off guard from St. John’s Northwest Military (WI), verbally pledged to Seton Hall Thursday night after watching the team play at Marquette Wednesday.

Wilbut, 19, joins 5-6 point guard Aquille Carr in Seton Hall’s 2013 recruiting class.

“They’ve been recruiting me for a long time and from what I’ve seen they’re in need of a scorer,” he told SNY.tv.

“I can be coming in and that’s a good spot for me.”

A Chicago native who is spending a postgrad year at St. John’s, Wilbut said he also had offers from Alabama, UTEP and Green Bay.

Carmelo Anthony and his old pal Kevin Garnett will be reunited in the Eastern Conference starting lineup for the upcoming NBA All-Star Game.

Garnett provoked Anthony into a one-game suspension last week by reportedly saying something about his wife, La La Vasquez, during the Celtics-Knicks game Jan. 7.

Anthony then confronted Garnett outside the Celtics’ locker room and on the loading dock at Madison Square Garden.

“I went, I wanted to talk to ‘KG.’ I think it was something that we both needed to get off our chests to see what really was the problem,” Anthony said Jan. 9.

“It was no altercations, it was just a word in confidence that we needed to have. We move on from here.”

Jermaine Lawrence is expected to visit St. John’s this weekend although he is still awaiting confirmation from the staff, sources confirmed to SNY.tv.

The news was first reported by Evan Daniels of Scout com.

St. John’s plays at DePaul at 11 a.m. Saturday, but the Johnnies would be back in New York after that. Monday is a holiday and Lawrence could theoretically stay through part of that day.

The 6-foot-10 Lawrence told SNY.tv last Saturday that he would visit St. John’s sometime soon and then decide soon thereafter.

Remember back in October when we wrote about Jim Boeheim and Rick Pitino accusing each other of being full of s**t at Big East Media Day?

Yeah, well those wild days are long gone and now it’s a virtual lovefest between the two.

“We started out together 37 years ago and we’ve been friends ever since,” Boeheim said Thursday on a conference call ahead of Saturday’s showdown between No. 6 Syracuse and No. 1 Louisville.

Here’s a list of nominees for the McDonald’s All-American Game April 3 in Chicago who are from New Jersey and New York.

Note that there are 17 players nominated from New Jersey and only four from New York. Two of the New York kids aren’t even in high school in New York.

Jersey powers St. Anthony, St. Patrick (The Patrick School) and St. Benedict’s have a combined five nominees.

    The full list is here.

The team will be announced the week of Feb. 18 on ESPNU:

Syracuse will retire Carmelo Anthony’s jersey Feb 23. when the Orange host Georgetown at the Carrier Dome.

Anthony, who helped lead the Orange to the 2003 NCAA Championship, was a consensus All-American that season.

A large replica of Anthony’s jersey will be unveiled in the rafters of the Carrier Dome, alongside nine other previously retired basketball uniform tops, and he will be presented with a framed jersey during a halftime celebration.
