    Jabari Parker, the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2013 out of Chicago Simeon, plans to cut his list to five schools in September and hopefully make a decision by November.

    “Hopefully in September, that’s the target date,” Sonny Parker, Jabari’s father, told SNY.tv Saturday morning.

    “Then he’s going to take his visits and his trips and hopefully make his decision in the fall. If he’s not really feeling it feeling it, then wait until the spring.”

    The 6-foot-8 Parker has trimmed his list to 10 schools: BYU, DePaul, Duke, Florida, Georgetown, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, North Carolina and Stanford.

    “He has no No. 1 or No. 2, he doesn’t really have a favorite,” Sonny said.

    The Elite 24 game will return to New York City from Venice Beach, Calif., in 2013, a source close to the event told SNY.tv Friday.

    The event was launched in the summer of 2006 at Harlem’s famed Rucker Park and held at Rucker Park for its first four years. In 2010, the game moved to Venice Beach, in part due to weather concerns in New York.

    It remains unclear where in New York the 2013 game will be held, but the source, who was granted anonymity because he is not authorized to speak publicly about the move, said it’s definitely coming back to the Big Apple.

    Memphis Briarcrest Christian forward Austin Nichols is working on setting up his official visits and could potentially sign late if he can’t settle on a school early, his father told SNY.tv. Friday.

    “We would like to commit early but I don’t know if that will happen,” Mark Nichols said. “It could be late. If one of these official visits doesn’t slap us in the face, we may be late with it.”

    The 6-8, 215-pound Nichols has a tentative official set for Virginia Sept. 8, his father said.

    “But the thing is we haven’t talked to Virginia because they’re out of the country,” he added.

    Jordan Mickey is currently visiting LSU and plans to hit Oklahoma State and SMU next week before ultimately cutting his list at the end of the month.

    “We’re still at LSU right now, it’s going great,” James Wright, Jordan’s father, told SNY.tv Friday. “Jordan’s on an unofficial hanging out with some of the basketball players. We came down and watched the  football team scrimmage.”

    James Wright Jr. is a junior wide receiver at LSU.

    Andrew Wiggins and the people around him learned this much from the Nerlens Noel experience last season.

    If you’re going to reclassify, do it relatively early.

    Don’t wait until the last minute.

    As you may recall, Noel waited until Feb. 1 to reclassify to 2012 from 2013, thus dramatically impacting both the spring recruiting landscape and the projected 2013 NBA Draft in one fell swoop.

    The 6-foot-7 Wiggins, 17, now finds himself in a similar situation.

    Despite a report to the contrary, Hudson (N.J.) Catholic small forward Reggie Cameron has not cut his list to five schools.

    “That’s not true,” Cameron, a ZAGSBLOG contributor, told SNY.tv Friday morning. “Right now I haven’t cut my list yet so I’m pretty much still open, considering all the schools.”

    The 6-foot-7 Cameron is still considering Seton Hall along with UConn, Michigan, N.C. State, Georgetown, Miami and others.

    When Canadian point guard Tyler Ennis first arrived at St. Benedict’s Prep in January 2011, then-assistant coach Billy Diamond asked him what his dream school was.

    “Syracuse,” Ennis told Diamond.

    “I called former client Wendell Alexis who called Mike Hopkins to tell him,” Diamond told SNY.tv. “Ennis was basically under the radar at that point. Hopkins never called me back, but when ‘Red’ Autry got the job I told him what happened. Red jumped right on it and the rest is history.”

    The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Ennis hopes to make history at Syracuse after announcing his commitment Thursday night.
