  • Jerron Love, who has his own Website and has been hyped as a future NBA star from a young age by his father, is coming to St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark.

The 2015 guard from The Bronx will join a loaded team that finished 35-3 a year ago and already features 2013 point guard Tyler Ennis and 2015 guard Isaiah Briscoe in the backcourt.

Assuming they both stay at the Newark school for the next three years, Briscoe and Love — two of the most highly touted guards in their class — would be teammates through 2015.

Former Illinois State guard Nic Moore has landed at SMU, sources told SNY.tv.

The 5-foot-9 Moore will play for former coach Tim Jankovic, the coach-in-waiting under legendary coach Larry Brown.

Moore, who cancelled visits to Illinois and Notre Dame after making the call, averaged 10 points and 3.9 assists as a freshman. He will have three years left after sitting out one.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — If it weren’t for Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night, Mike Rice figures he’d be fast asleep by the time midnight rolls around.

Instead, the Rutgers coach will be awake watching the end of the game, just in time to start texting recruits beginning at 12:01 a.m. Friday.

“Now that the game’s on, I’m going to stay awake and watch the game,” Rice told SNY.tv Thursday at Rutgers. “It’s going to end at midnight. I’ll say, ‘What did you think about the game?’ I’ll communicate tonight with probably a dozen or so guys.”

Tyler Harris is headed to the Big East.

The 6-foot-8 Long Island native opted to transfer to Providence from N.C. State, choosing the Friars over Temple, Dayton, UAB and South Florida.

“He has developed a great relationship with (head) coach (Ed) Cooley and (assistant) coach (Andre) LaFleur,” Torrel Harris told SNY.tv. “He believed in them, how they would utilize him to be a major contributor to the team and he looks forward to competing in the Big East.”

As the 2011-12 basketball season unfolded, the odds seemed to be against St. John’s long-term success.

Head coach Steve Lavin returned to the sidelines prematurely following his Oct. 6 seven-hour prostate cancer surgery and ended up having to cut his comeback short because doctors advised a modified coaching schedule.

On the court, the Johnnies lost two point guards when Malik Stith quit the team and Nurideen Lindsey transferred, leaving the team with just five players for the first half of a game against Fordham in mid-December at Madison Square Garden.

Speculation about Lavin’s long-term health appeared to hurt the team’s recruiting prospects, and were magnified when onetime recruit Ricardo Gathers decommitted and later signed with Baylor.
