  • GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Baron Davis is a New York Knick and it’s not hard to imagine him starting when, and if, he becomes healthy.

But the current starting point guard, Toney Douglas, says he’s not threatened by the Knicks’ latest arrival.

“We got him obviously here for a reason,” Douglas said Monday. “That’s our goal, is to win, right? I feel like we’re going to get better every day and win games.”

Nerlens Noel’s teammates think he should go to Kentucky but the No. 1 center in the Class of 2013 wants to take his time.

“You just got to go to a program just not based off the name,” Noel told FiveStarBasketball.com in this exclusive vide interview.

“But if there is a good name you look into it, see what they have to offer. But there ‘s other schools out there that are going to help you just as good as the high-name schools as well. So you look at the other schools, too, and take your time through the process and look at it in different aspects and just know that you made the good decision.”

Jabari Brown is the latest addition to what could be a very strong Missouri team going forward.

The 6-foot-5 California shooting guard officially pledged to the No. 9 Tigers (11-0) Monday. As SNY.tv first reported earlier Monday, Georgia Tech pulled out of of the Brown sweepstakes.

“Jabari Brown to Mizzou as of today,” David Brown, Jabari’s father, told SNY.tv by text. “This has been a tough, tough time for him. He went to Oregon with every intention of making it work. He’s grateful for the opportunity they gave him. And he regrets that it didn’t work.”

GREENBURGH, N.Y. —  Tyson Chandler won an NBA championship last year with the Dallas Mavericks, so he knows what it takes to go all the way.

So does Chandler think the addition of point guard Baron Davis is enough to help the Knicks contend in the Eastern Conference?

“I feel so,” Chandler said Monday. “I feel like we’re deep. I feel like we’re very talented, obviously well coached.

    GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Baron Davis
made his first appearance in a Knicks uniform Monday afternoon, and said his goal is to help New York win its first NBA title since 1973.

“From the time I got into the league, my goal is to always win a championship or depending on the team, get us to the playoffs,” he said, adding that he also fielded calls from the Miami Heat and his hometown Los Angeles Lakers. “And winning is the most important thing to me. That’s what basketball is all about, to have that joy and lift that trophy.

“And this is my sole motivation for coming here is I think that we have the tools and the pieces, and if we can gel together and develop that team chemistry I like our chances against anybody in this league.’
