Similar to Tobias Harris during his breakout summer nearly 20 years ago while at Half Hollow Hills West (NY) HS, PSA Cardinals Class of 2028 forward Damian Mojica has made a major body transformation while thriving as a high IQ, defensively versatile 6-foot-8 prospect on the rise.
Mojica, who played some point forward while helping spearhead a 22-win program The Masters School (NY) this past season, was inundated with a barrage of texts, calls and offers from coaches across the country yesterday.
On the first official day NCAA Division-I coaches are allowed to contact 2028 recruits directly, June 15th, Mojica heard from the likes of Syracuse, Stanford, Notre Dame, Boston University, Towson, Arkansas-Little Rock, East Carolina, Kennesaw State and others.
Oral Roberts offered Mojica recently. East Carolina, Kennesaw State, and Arkansas- Little Rock have all offered in the last 24 hours.
Like the aforementioned Harris, Mojica has become a lean, explosive above-rim threat with a unique blend of size and a big guard skill set.
Mojica is averaging 14.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists with PSA on the EYBL circuit this spring. He is shooting 61.5 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc.
His emergence has come in a short period of time, as quick evolution similar to Harris’ explosion into a top shelf recruit nearly 20 years ago.
Mojica’s ability to operate offense with a slick passing arsenal and see the floor has been noteworthy, as he averaged 4.5 assists to go with 20.8 points at the NEPSAC Showcase.
Mojica started his career at the academically enriched Horace Mann School.
He spent this past season at another elite academic program in Masters.
Mojica’s adaptability was vital on a team known for versatility, interchangeability, and guys taking on multi-layered roles.
The NEPSAC Showcase, which took place in Worcester, Mass. this past weekend was a significant and exposure-heavy stage for Mojica, who is from Yonkers, NY.
“I think it was critical for me to play with confidence and play as a leader for my team,” Mojica said.
“We had multiple new pieces that had never played with us before. So, it was my job as the returner to help guide our team.”
