The Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award winner has been announced.
Arkansas commit and five-star Class of 2026 prospect Jordan Smith Jr. was surprised by former NBA player John Wall with the award on Thursday.
“We are so proud of Jordan,” Paul VI (VA) head coach Glenn Farello told ZAGSBLOG. “The ultimate winner, he’s an outstanding human being who happens to be good at at the sport of basketball.”
The Gatorade Player of the Year award is the top individual honor in high-school sports. Elite NBA talent such as Cooper Flagg and Jayson Tatum have received the award.
Smith will go on to play college for Wall’s former college head coach John Calipari as he looks to follow in the footsteps of others who have won the award.
Arkansas’s season came to an end in the Sweet 16 Thursday night with a 109-88 loss to Arizona.
