After picking up an offer from Villanova last month, Matt Hodge visited the Big East school this past weekend.

“The visit went great,” the 6-foot-8, 210-pound rising senior at St. Rose in Belmar, N.J. who runs with the PSA Cardinals told ZAGSBLOG.

“[Their message was] that I was a very important target for them and that I could be a player that could help them win games!”

Villanova is where St. Rose coach Brian Lynch played before beginning his overseas career.

Hodge has the following visits planned:

    Xavier – Aug. 29 (Official)

Penn State – Aug. 31 (official)

    Marquette – Sept. 7 (official)

    Maryland – Sept. 14 (official)

    Virginia – Sept. 21 (official)

Virginia Tech – Sept. 28 (official)

Temple and Seton Hall are also in the mix for visits, his father Odell said, while Alabama and Florida State are also under consideration.

“We’re going through everything school by school and we’re going to prioritize everything after the Virginia visit and see if it’s necessary” to take other visits,” said Odell, who starred at Old Dominion, where Matt has already visited this summer.

“Every school that’s offered, we like them very much and it’s some good opportunities. It has to make sense and it has to be the right fit for Matt.”

Hodge averaged 8.2 points and 2.5 rebounds with the PSA Cardinals (4-1) at Peach Jam after leading St. Rose to the New Jersey Non-Public B state final, where they pushed a loaded Roselle Catholic team before coming up short.

Villanova also has Class of 2024 guard Sir Mohammed on campus after he arrived Sunday night.
