University of Miami freshman guard Earl Timberlake plans to transfer, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and Jeff Borzello reported Sunday.

Timberlake, a 6-foot-6, 215-pound shooting guard out of Washington, D.C., was ranked by 247Sports.com as No. 7 shooting guard and No. 36 overall prospect in the Class of 2020 coming out of high school.

He committed to Miami on November 4, 2019 over Pittsburgh, Providence, Seton Hall and South Carolina.

Timberlake averaged 9.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.7 steals in seven games this season before being shut down with a left shoulder injury.

Timberlake told ESPN he will not be entering the 2021 NBA Draft.

“I need to get back to being the real Earl Timberlake before I can think of taking the next step in my career,” he said.
