Six Big East recruits have been invited to the prestigious Pangos All-American Festival Nov. 7-8 in Phoenix, and five were invited to the Slam 16 Game this Saturday at the Gauchos Gym in The Bronx.

For the Pangos Festival, Seton Hall commit Brandon Weston, DePaul pledge Ahamad Bynum, UConn pledges Samson Johnson and Rahsool Diggins and Villanova’s Trey Patterson and Jordan Longino were invited.

Past players to compete in the game include Deandre Ayton, Anthony Davis, Ben Simmons, Russell Westbrook, Brad Beal, Emmanuel Mudiay, Trae Young and Kyle Lowry among others.

Meantime, UConn’s Johnson and Diggins, Villanova’s Patterson and Nnanna Njoku and Georgetown pledge Jordan Riley were invited to the Slam 16 Game on Saturday.

The 6-foot-10 Johnson continues to reap awards and honors after a big-time summer and fall on the grassroots circuit.

Johnson committed to UConn in August and is part of a 2021 recruiting class that includes Diggins and shooting guard Jordan Hawkins.

“I think he’s had an outstanding summer and fall for us,” said Patrick School coach Chris Chavannes , who also coached current UConn freshman forward Adama Sanogo.

“I think [Sunday] he just kind of really separated himself. It’s not just the dominance of blocking shots and follow-up dunks, it’s just having an impact on the game. The things he did, we know what he has and he’s shown it in practice before but he showed that his ceiling is extremely high with the things he was doing.

“That’s the best I’ve seen him play in terms of showing how freaking talented he is. He was just dominant.”
