Kendall Brown, the 6-foot-7 small forward from Sunrise Christian (KS) Academy, took an unofficial visit to Kansas for “Late Night in the Phog” on Friday.
“Late Night was crazy,” Brown told ZAGSBLOG Thursday. “I’ve never seen anything like it before.”
Brown picked up an offer from Kansas in July. He broke down his visit in more detail:
“I got there on Friday and toured around a little bit before going to Late Night,” he said. “They said they really like me and like my game. They talked about what I need to work on. They’re excited about it.”
Kansas currently has no commits in the 2021. However, they do have a commit from 2022 guard Tre White.
“I’m a big guard on the wing, really bouncy,” said Brown. “I’m athletic, so they’d have me get out and run.”
Brown will take his first official visit to Marquette later this month (Oct. 25).
“They really like me and are recruiting me hard,” he said. “I like Marquette a lot, so I’m excited to check it out.”
Brown is also planning a visit to Maryland, but has not set a date.
“Similar to Marquette, they’re recruiting me hard,” he said. “I really like the way they use their players, with a lot of big guards on the wing.”
Brown said that he is also hearing from Nebraska, Arkansas, Gonzaga and Baylor, among others.
“I’m figuring that I’ll commit around next year before the school year starts,” said Brown. “I’ll probably cut my list down before AAU.”
Brown broke down what he’s looking for when taking these visits.
“I’m just looking for the relationships and where I’ll fit the best,” he said. “I’m looking at which school is going to give me the best opportunity to put me in the league. I’m also looking at the coach relationships, team relationships and if the team feels at home.”
According to 247Sports, Brown is ranked as the No. 21 overall player in the Class of 2021 and the No. 1 player from the state of Kansas.
