Jamir Harris, the freshman shooting guard from the University of Minnesota, will transfer to American University, his father told ZAGSBLOG on Wednesday. He will have three years of eligibility remaining after sitting out the 2018-19 season.

“I️ chose American University because I️ felt that I️ would be getting the best of both worlds,” Harris told ZAGSBLOG. “Attending AU will give me the opportunity to be in a great academic atmosphere and an ideal basketball situation as well.”

In his freshman season at Minnesota, Harris averaged 14.1 minutes and 3.9 points per game in 28 games played.

“On the court, AU gives me the best opportunity to accomplish the goals that I️ have set for myself,” said Harris. “Therefore, I️ am proud to say that I️ will be a new member of the American Golden Eagle Family.”

Before committing to Minnesota in September 2016, Harris attended The Patrick (NJ) School and was ranked by 247Sports as the No. 294 overall player in the Class of 2017.
