Eric Dixon, the 6-foot-6 power forward from Abington (PA) High School, told ZAGSBLOG on Tuesday that Villanova, Xavier, and Virginia are the three schools that have been recruiting him the hardest of late. He broke down each school:

Villanova: “I’m a hometown kid and they could help turn my weaknesses into strengths. They could help me get better and play at the highest level.”

Virginia: “They could really use a scorer and I feel like I could be that guy for them. Obviously, they’re a great basketball team and that would be great to be a crucial scorer for a big-time basketball program.”

Xavier: “Another school that believes in my scoring ability. I could go there and be one of the school’s best players of all-time in terms of scoring.”

On Saturday (March 3), Dixon led Abington to a victory over unbeaten Plymouth Whitemarsh (PA) High School to win District One Class 6A championship. Abington plays on Saturday (March 10) in the state tournament.

“It’s been a good season,” said Dixon. “We’ve had a couple disappointing losses. Obviously, we’d rather be 27-0 than 23-5, but I feel like we’re in a good spot. We’re playing good basketball right now.”

Dixon told ZAGSBLOG Tuesday that he does not plan on taking any visits before the end of the season and has no upcoming visits planned.

According to 247Sports, Dixon is ranked as the No. 114 overall player in the Class of 2019 and the No. 3 player from the state of Pennsylvania. Dixon broke down his game:

“I’m a bruiser of sorts. I would say I’m a LaMarcus Aldridge kind of guy. I take my time. I’m methodical. I play under the rum and I just try to use my size and shooting abilities to get the upper hand.”

When it comes to his recruitment, Dixon is beginning to come closer to a decision, as he said, “I was thinking [about committing in]  November, but at this point, I have enough offers where I want to take my time and evaluate the schools that are recruiting me. It might come sooner. It might come later. I’m not sure.”

Dixon also spoke about what he’s looking for in a school, as he said, “Playing time is obviously a big deal, but winning is really paramount to me at this point.”

“I feel like wherever I go, they could use my skills, my abilities, and talents. Watching these teams this season, I want to play for a team that has a real chance to win a national championship.”
