Devon Dotson, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound point guard from Providence Day (NC) School and Team Charlotte (NC), took an official visit to Florida this past weekend and is now weighing his options.

“It was good,” said Dana Dotson, the player’s father. “Devon got a chance to hang around the players and just question what life is like in the gym and around campus. He attended a class, two practices, met academics, strength and conditioning, and attended the [football] game on Saturday.”

“He met with the coaching [Florida] staff several times,” his father added. “Their message was that he would have the ball in his hand from day one as their senior point guard [Chris Chiozza] graduates and play with upperclassmen that have Elite Eight experience. He was told they play an uptempo offense that plays to the strength of his game along with aggressive defense. They feel a guy that plays both ends of the court the way Devon does would thrive.”

Dotson last month visited Kansas, which expects to lose several players in 2018, including point guard Devonte’ Graham.

Dotson, who averaged 18.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game this summer on the AAU circuit, will now weigh his options going forward. UCLA, Maryland and Clemson have also expressed interest.

“At this point, Devon will take the weekend off from visits and such and is considering his options and next actions,” his father said.
