Alabama transfer Nick Jacobs is headed to Georgia Tech, he told SNY.tv.

“I just decided to choose Georgia Tech over Miami,” he said by text.

“I chose Georgia Tech because of the great coaching staff and I believe that I fit into their style of play. It’s also close to home where I have lots of family support. More importantly, it is a great opportunity to receive a degree at Georgia Tech and be able to make right away as a player.”

The 6-foot-8 South Atlanta native averaged 8.4 points and 3.5 rebounds last season with the Crimson Tide before taking an indefinite leave of absence Feb. 19. He will have one year of eligibility remaining after sitting out next season.

Georgia Tech is also in the mix for Maryland transfer Charles Mitchell, who takes an official visit next week. Mitchell is also considering Georgia.
