  • Maryland sophomore Seth Allen is transferring, becoming the fourth Maryland player to do so this offseason.

    “I had a great two years there,” the 6-foot-1 Allen told ESPN.com. “And I’m thankful for the opportunity, but I also feel as though it’s time for me to move on.”

    Allen told ESPN.com he has yet to receive his release.

    “I’ve grown close to Seth and his family over the past few years, so I am disappointed he has decided to leave Maryland,” said head coach Mark Turgeon. “I wish Seth the best.”

    One day after losing a point guard from Brewster (N.H.) Academy, Kansas has gained another one.

    Devonte’ Graham picked the Jayhawks over N.C. State on Friday, Tweeting “ROCKCHALK JAYHAWK !! #KUCMB .”

    “Tradition of winning, opportunity to play right away and felt it was the best fit for me,” Graham said by text of his reasoning for picking Kansas.

    The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Graham recently obtained his release from Appalachian State. After receiving interest from a slew of high-major programs, he then trimmed his list to Kansas and N.C. State.

    Tyus Battle ZagTyus Battle, one of the elite players in the Class of 2016, plans to visit Michigan and Duke next month and continues to pile up scholarship offers.

    Battle added offers from Wake Forest and Maryland this past week to the many he already has.

    “He got the two offers recently from Maryland and Wake Forest,” Gary Battle, Tyus’ father, told SNY.tv.

    Duke has also stepped up its involvement for the 6-foot-5 Gill St. Bernard’s guard, with assistant Jon Scheyer taking over his recruitment.

    “Duke was in contact with us and now we’ve gotten in contact with them,” Gary said. “I know Coach K and [Jeff] Capel as well as Scheyer were at one of his games [in Sacramento with Team Scan], I think maybe his last game. They really like him and they want to stay involved with him.

    Keith ThomasKeith Thomas, the 6-foot-8 forward from Westchester Community College, is now down to four schools and is targeting an announcement on Monday at the SNY studio in Manhattan.

    “He’s considering Loyola-Chicago, St. John’s, South Florida and Fordham,” WCC coach Tyrone Mushatt told SNY.tv.

    Thomas last week visited St. John’s and USF, but his visit to Miami this week was cancelled. He previously visited Loyola.

    St. John’s is looking to add frontcourt depth to augment Chris Obekpa and incoming recruit Adonis Delarosa.

    BoeheimThe 16th annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge pairings for Dec. 1-3 were officially announced Thursday.

    ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will combine to televise all 14 games of the three-day event matching top college basketball programs playing for conference supremacy and the Commissioners Cup. All 14 games will also be available via WatchESPN.

    Three of the games will feature a showdown between teams ranked in an ESPN.com early preseason top 25 poll: No. 2 Duke at No. 4 Wisconsin, No. 25 Iowa at No. 6 North Carolina and No. 21 Syracuse at No. 24 Michigan. Additional teams in the Challenge that made the poll include No. 7 Virginia, No. 8 Louisville and No. 18 Michigan State.
