  • Khalid Moore, the 6-foot-8, 190-pound Class of 2018 wing from Archbishop Molloy High School and the NY Rens, committed to Georgia Tech on Tuesday following an official visit this weekend.

He also considered Seton Hall. Moore also held offers from Pittsburgh, Oklahoma State, UMass, Miami, Syracuse, Virginia, St. John’s, Rutgers, Rhode Island and VCU.

“I felt that they would make me better as a player and person,” he told ZAGSBLOG. “they play at a high level of competition and have a good academic program I can rely on.”

As for Georgia Tech, head coach Josh Pastner has made inroads in New York City, landing former Christ the King point guard Jose Alvarado a year ago. He joins Montverde (FL) Academy point guard Mike Devoe and Norwegian small forward Kristian Sjolund in this year’s class.

NEW YORK — Khalid Moore, the 6-foot-8, 190-pound Class of 2018 wing from Archbishop Molloy High School and the NY Rens, has two official visits planned at the moment.

Moore will trip to Seton Hall (Sept. 28-30) and Georgia Tech (Oct. 22-24).

“I’m setting up an official visit later this month with Seton Hall, and then next month I’m supposed to be going to Georgia Tech,” Moore said Wednesday during an open gym.

NEW YORK — Moses Brown’s thunderous dunk late in the game Friday night brought the standing-room only crowd at Archbishop Molloy High School to its feet amid a chorus of oohs and aahs.

But it was Khalid Moore’s splendid drive and pass that set up the flush.

The 6-foot-6 junior wing enjoyed the best game of his career with 21 points and 9 rebounds as Molloy beat Christ the King, 78-67, amid a highly-charged atmosphere that saw school officials turning away fans, and at least one college coach, at the doors before the game on the orders of fire marshals.

“Yeah, I think it was one of my breakout games,” Moore, who entered averaging 9.3 points, told me afterward. “I was struggling before, but I just came out with the intensity, I played aggressive and I think I did very good.”

NEW YORK — Louisville coach Rick Pitino and assistant Kenny Johnson came to the Archbishop Molloy open gym on Thursday primarly to watch 7-footer Moses Brown, but left by offering a scholarship to his teammate Khalid Moore.

The offer was first reported by Andrew Slater of 247Sports.com, and confirmed by Moore.

Moore, a 6-foot-7 wing who runs with the NY Rens, was one of the breakout 16U players this summer at the Peach Jam and is coming into his own entering his junior season.

It doesn’t hurt that he’s part of a “Big Three” at Molloy that includes Brown and Class of 2019 point guard Cole Anthony, the son of former NBA point guard Greg Anthony.
