NC State’s season has come to a close, but its head coach promises it is only up from here for the ACC school.
“This will be the worst team we have at NC State right here,” head coach Will Wade told On3 after the 68-66 loss to Texas. “This is the floor of our program.”
The 2025-26 season was Wade’s first at NC State after a remarkable year at McNeese.
“We’ve got changes we’ve got to make up and down the program. My eyes are wide open, I understand what we need to do,” Wade said. “But this is unacceptable, losing in Dayton. In some ways, we were fortunate to make the tournament with this group. We’ve got to do a much better job getting guys, and making sure we get guys that fit us in the future to make sure we’re not back in this spot.”
Needless to say, just making the NCAA Tournament isn’t good enough for Wade and his program. A program which he says will only get better from here on out.
