Next up, Cole will visit UConn over Memorial Day weekend. UConn’s Dan Hurley and Kimani Young have already met with Cole and his parents. “Playing for Danny would be nice, it would keep things in the family type thing,” Cole said. “I played for his father [Bob Hurley Sr. at St. Anthony’s]. He just wants an older to come in and be ready to play because they have younger guards. Cole is also hearing from Seton Hall, St. John’s, Oklahoma State and Arkansas but has only set the two visits. “I haven’t really set anything,” he said. “I just have my first two visits right now.” Follow Adam Zagoria on Twitter And Like ZAGS on FacebookHoward transfer R.J. Howard transfer R.J. Cole completed his official visit to Alabama this weekend and his next scheduled official is to UConn over Memorial Day weekend.
Cole, who averaged 21.4 points, 6.4 assists and 4.1 rebounds last season, is also testing the NBA Draft process and was among the more than 230 names released by the NBA last week.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound native of Union, N.J. will sit one year to play two.
“Basically, [Alabama] wants a sit-out guard who will come in, learn their system and when it’s time to play, just go out there and play in the system,” Cole, 19 said Sunday by phone. He didn’t meet any of the players on the visit but said he played against guard John Petty.
“I met their whole coaching staff. They’re definitely on my list.”
