North Carolina forward Cameron Johnson will have surgery Wednesday after suffering a torn meniscus in his left knee in practice on Monday, the school announced.

Johnson transferred to North Carolina before the season after graduating from Pittsburgh in three years.

“I’m extremely disappointed for Cameron,” Tar Heel head coach Roy Williams said in a release. “The young man has been working hard to blend in with our team after being such a productive college player the last two-plus seasons.”

Johnson also missed the season opener on Nov. 10 against Northern Iowa with a sprained neck.

Last year at Pitt, Johnson averaged 11.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 33 minutes per game.
