Ohio State has now landed a commitment from the top-ranked player in Kansas in four-star guard Jaxson Davis, On3’s Joe Tipton first reported on Friday.

Davis, a 6-foot point guard originally from Illinois, chose the Buckeyes over the likes of Michigan State, Creighton, Illinois and Minnesota, among others.

The newest Ohio State commit is the two-time reigning Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year, coming off a junior season where he averaged 19.4 points and 6 assists per game.

After spending the majority of his high school career dominating Illinois high school basketball, Davis announced his intentions to transfer to the Monarch Academy (KS) for its inaugural season. The new program has already welcomed multiple top-100 recruits as it looks to become another national powerhouse in the Midwest.

During last summer’s Nike EYBL circuit, Davis spent it with Meanstreets and averaged 15.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game as one of the top guards on the circuit.

Davis is Ohio State’s second top-100 commit in as many days as Jake Diebler and the Buckeyes also picked up top-ranked Canadian forward Deng Ngor on Thursday.

With the commitments of Ngor and Davis, the Buckeyes are off to a quick start in their 2027 recruiting class.

In 247Sports’ latest rankings for the class of 2027, Davis was rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 39 prospect in the nation.
