The younger brother of former Duke star Kon Knueppel is now set to follow in his brother’s footsteps, with four-star forward Kager Knueppel announcing his commitment to the Blue Devils on Monday.
Knueppel’s commitment comes three days after Duke’s lead assistant, Chris Carrawell, attended a game to see the Wisconsin native play for Team Herro on the Nike EYBL circuit.
Knueppel, who’s a much different player than his sharpshooting older brother, is a 6-foot-10 forward and a rising senior at Wisconsin Lutheran HS (WI).
In addition to being heavily recruited by his alma mater, Knueppel also considered Wisconsin and Purdue, among others.
Despite his above-average size, Knueppel possesses elite outside scoring, while posing as a threat from three-point range using his near 7-foot frame.
“Kager is a hard worker that gets the job done by any means necessary. Whether if it’s shooting, rebounding, or defending, he brings it all to the table,” Knueppel’s AAU coach Chuck Smith told ZAGSBLOG last summer. “Kager is one of the best shooters in the country if not the best. He offers tons of floor spacing and creates straight line drives for others because opposing teams are afraid to help off of him on defense.”
Knueppel is Duke’s first commitment in the class of 2027 and has the Blue Devils ranked as the No. 9 overall recruiting class, although way too early in the recruiting cycle.
