A four star guard/wing who has hovered around the Top-40 nationally in the Class of 2027, Baboucarr Ann has now committed to Wisconsin.
After averaging 19.5 PPG, five rebounds, and four assists during a breakthrough junior campaign at Maple Grove high school in Minnesota, Ann chose the Badgers over Minnesota, Notre Dame, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Providence, and several other potential suitors across the country.
A defensively versatile prospect who vacillated between sitting down on smaller guards and providing physical defense on forwards, Ann visited the Madison, Wisc. campus back during the heart of winter.
He took in the Badgers 92-82 victory over Ohio State at the Kohl Center. Wisconsin had been in at Maple Grove HS several times to see Ann this past season and the hotly pursued recruit was able to build the relationship with head coach Greg Gard throughout the year.
Gard and assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft were a consistent presence throughout the recruitment process for Ann.
Wisconsin sustained their consistent pursuit of the 6-foot-5, 185-pound Ann during the live period Gard and Brad Davison, an All-Big Ten guard during a memorable career at Wisconsin, were present at all of Ann’s games with D1MN during the opening live period.
Davison, now a special assistant to the head coach following a professional playing career overseas, also played at Maple Grove HS.
With emergent national stock riser Ahmed Nur recently choosing to transfer from Hopkins HS (MN) to traditional national power Bella Vista Prep in Arizona, Ann is now under a microscope as the state’s top ranked player entering his senior season.
