Houston Mallette, a former Pepperdine guard, has transferred to Alabama, he announced on his Instagram Tuesday.

The 6-foot-5 Mallette is the first player to transfer to a high major in this portal cycle. He averaged 14.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists with Pepperdine this season.

Mallette was the No. 17 player out of California in the class of 2021. He originally committed to Penn State but decommitted and ultimately chose the Waves.

Alabama now has four highly-coveted additions to the roster next season. Mallette joins the No. 13 high school senior Derrion Reid, No. 22 Aiden Sherrell and No. 50 Naas Cunningham. The class is ranked No. 6 in the country, per 247 Sports.
