R.J. Davis, the former Archbishop Stepinac star, put up a historic performance for North Carolina on Monday night.

Davis poured in 42 points, making 7-of-11 from deep, as the No. 9 Tar Heels edged Miami, 75-71. He accounted for 56% of his team’s points.

His 42 points was a record for the Smith Center and also tied Shammond Williams (1998) for the most points by a UNC player in the last 50 years.

    Here’s the list, per ESPN:

    Monday: – RJ Davis – 42

    1998: Shammond Williams – 42

    1987: Kenny Smith – 41

    2011: Harrison Barnes – 40

    2006: Tyler Hansbrough – 40
