Yarin Hasson, a 6-9, 205-pound small forward from
Israel, has signed a financial aid agreement with UConn and will join the
men’s basketball program as a freshman for the 2022-23 season, the school announced Wednesday.

Hasson, who will not turn 18 until October, is from Gan Yavne, Israel,
played high school basketball for Gimnasia Realit in Rishon Le-Zion. He is
also a member of the U18 Israeli National Team and has played for club
team Maccabi rishon le Zion and is considered one of the top rising young
    players in the country.

Hasson is the fifth Israeli native to become part of the UConn basketball
program, but the first since Doron Sheffer in 1996. Nadav Henefeld (1989-
    90), Gilad Katz (1990-92), Uri Cohen-Mintz (1994-95) and Sheffer (1993-
    96) are the others.

Hasson will become the 12th scholarship player on the Huskies 2022-23
roster, joining grad student Joe Calcaterra, seniors Tristen Newton and
Nahiem Alleyne, juniors Andre Jackson Jr., Adama Sanogo, and Hassan
    Diarra
, redshirt junior Richie Springs, sophomores Jordan Hawkins and
Samson Johnson, redshirt freshman Alex Karaban and freshman Donovan Clingan.
