St. John’s has landed a commitment from class of 2022 three-star guard Jaquan Sanders, he announced Tuesday via Instagram.

Sanders, a 6-foot-3, 170-pound shooting guard out of Our Saviour Lutheran (NY) School, is set to join forces with former high school teammates Posh Alexander and Dylan Addae-Wusu.

Sanders chose St. John’s over a number of others schools involved, including Providence, Auburn, Pittsburgh and Kansas State.

“Jaquan is a Far Rockaway kid, who decided to stay home,” NY Lightning coach Shandue McNeil said. “St John’s is getting a multidimensional play-maker. His ability to make plays is off the charts. His willingness to distribute the ball is contagious. He brings confidence and a winning mentality to a program trending in the right direction.”

Ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 30 shooting guard in the nation, Sanders joins four-star guard AJ Storr and unranked point guard Kolby King in St. John’s 2022 recruiting class.

Sanders averaged 19 points, seven assists, four rebounds and two steals per game last season at Our Saviour Lutheran, while shooting 44 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range.
