Class of 2022 four-star guard Knasir ‘Dug’ McDaniel has committed to Michigan while on an official visit, Tipton Edits reported Thursday.
Breaking: 2022 four-star Dug McDaniel tells me he’s committed to Michigan.
“It just felt like home,” McDaniel told ZAGSBLOG. “They broke down everything for me, didn’t sugarcoat anything. Everything is earned, so my minutes and everything are up to me.”
The 5-foot-9, 145-pound point guard from Paul VI Catholic (VA), chose Michigan over offers from Arizona State, Georgia, UConn, VCU, Georgetown, Bryant, LSU, Vanderbilt, George Mason, Florida, Wake Forest and Mount St. Mary’s.
“The relationship with the staff was so natural and very welcoming,” McDaniel said. “Go Blue.”
Ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 9 point guard and No. 52 overall prospect in the class of 2022, McDaniel is the first commit in Michigan’s 2022 recruiting class.
“Dug is an elite passer who thrives in the open court with his speed and ability to set up teammates,” Paul VI coach Glenn Farello said. “His play-making ability in ball screens and 30point shooting puts pressure on the defense in the half court. I expect him to be one of the best on ball defenders in the country this year.”
