Class of 2023 guard Layden Blocker is starting to receive high-major interest.

The 6-foot-2, 160-pound point guard from Little Rock (AR) Christian Academy, holds offers from TCU, Oral Roberts , Southern Mississippi, Central Arkansas, Auburn, St. John’s, Arkansas, Tulane and Virginia Tech.

He is also receiving interest from Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and Missouri.

“I’ll look at the coaches, how they coach the game and treat their players,” Blocker said. “I’m looking to see if the school is a good fit for me.”

Virginia Tech staff is planning to meet with Blocker by Zoom in the near future.

On the court, Blocker says he is primarily at the one spot, but has recently moved to playing the two position.

“I can share the ball, finish and run the floor,” he said. “I feel like my game is all-around.”

Off the court, Blocker says he mainly spends his time focused on his schoolwork.

“I don’t do much outside of basketball. Like I said, schoolwork, hanging out with friends and stuff like that.”
