Ithiel Horton is headed to Pittsburgh, he told ZAGSBLOG.
The 6-foot-3 Delaware transfer chose Pitt over Arkansas after visiting both schools. He averaged 13.2 points and 3.1 rebounds as a freshman at Delaware. He will have three years of eligibility remaining after sitting the 2019-20 season per NCAA transfer rules.
“I picked the University of Pittsburgh because of the rich history and culture of the city, and the fact that I will be playing for such a legendary coach who is rebuilding the model up at Pittsburgh,” Horton said.
Pittsburgh is looking to up its talent level in the ACC under second-year coach Jeff Capel.
Horton will bring an experienced, scoring guard to the ACC beginning in 2020-21.
“I will bring lights out shooting to the team as well as being an attack-heavy guard getting into the lane and drawing defenders and making the right plays,” he said.
He added: “Only time will tell how good the team will be with me. All I know is I will bring toughness and tenacity and I know the other guys can reciprocate that type of energy as well.”
