David McCormack, a 6-foot-10, 285-pound Class of 2018 big man from Norfolk (VA) Academy and Team Loaded, took an unofficial visit to Duke over the weekend.

McCormack is rated the No. 2 center in the nation by 247Sports and the No. 3 player in the state for the Class of 2018.

“It was a great experience,” he told SNY.tv. “We [Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski and McCormack] talked about how I am a one of a kind big and [how I should] embrace the way I play on the court.”

Asked what he likes about Duke, McCormack said, “The traditional atmosphere in Cameron.”

Duke assistant coach Jon Scheyer has been the lead recruiter on McCormack, who has yet to pick up a Duke offer.

He holds nearly 20 offers, including recent ones from Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M, Kansas and Maryland.

Beginning at midnight on Tuesday, college coaches can call Class of 2018 prospects like McCormack. But he will be at the NBA Top 100 and may not be awake at that point.

“Honestly, I’m not really sure,” he said. “A lot of my coaches just told me to be ready.”

“They got good history,” Beatty said before the visit. “A lot of players went there and they put the most people in the NBA, so that might be something I look into.”

Asked prior to the visit who was working the hardest, Beatty listed Maryland, Texas A&M, Seton Hall, Villanova, Temple and Indiana.

    AUNDRE HYATT EARNING FANS

Aundre Hyatt, a 6-6 forward from White Plains (N.Y.) Archbishop Stepinac, impressed at the Nike Elite 100 Camp over the weekend in St. Louis.

Florida State, Maryland, VCU, Xavier, Virginia and Harvard all called either Hyatt’s AAU or high school coach following the weekend.
