  • Bam AdebayoBam Adebayo will make his college announcement on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. on Mike & Mike on ESPN News.

N.C. State, Kentucky and Auburn are among those involved for the 6-foot-10 power forward from High Point Christian (N.C.). He took officials to the first two and an unofficial to Auburn.

Adebayo’s most recent visit came to N.C. State in late October.

“It was exciting,” Eric Peartree, Adebayo’s mentor, told Scout.com. “I think he had a great time. It was electric, with Clemson in town and just being able for him to interact with the fanbase. Bam’s mom was able to come for the weekend and so overall it was a great experience.

“Junior [Smith] was there with his family. I really believe it was like a homecoming for Bam… it was like being back with family again.”

    Alex PoythressBy JOSH NEWMAN

The University of Kentucky will face a stern early-season test from Duke on Tuesday evening at the Champions Classic, so Wildcats head coach John Calipari believes it is time for senior forward Alex Poythress to step his game up.

Three years ago as a highly-touted freshman, Poythress showed what he was capable of against these same Blue Devils, scoring 20 points on 9-for-12 shooting to go along with eight rebounds in a 75-68 Kentucky loss at the Georgia Dome.

A combination of deciding not to leave for the NBA twice, plus suffering a season-ending ACL injury last season have brought Poythress to this point.

“He’s had a good career,” Calipari told reporters in Lexington on Monday afternoon. “Now, it’s time to be great.”

Thon MakerThon Maker visited Kansas on Friday night and then played in front of Jayhawks head coach Bill Self and assistant Kurtis Townsend this weekend.

The 7-footer from Orangeville Prep in Ontario (Canada) sat behind the Kansas bench Friday for their home opener, a 109-72 win over Northern Colorado.

“Thon does want to do an official to Kansas,” his guardian, Ed Smith, told SNY.tv. “He was at their home opener unofficially.”

On Thursday, Maker listed Arizona State, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Notre Dame and St. John’s as the schools recruiting him the hardest.
