Michael Porter Jr. already has one close friend recruiting him to Virginia.

Now Matthew Moyer is working on getting him to come to Syracuse.

“I would love to see him come to Syracuse,” Moyer, a 2016 Syracuse commit, told Syracuse.com at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Va. “That’s another missing piece to an easy national championship. He’s a great kid. We recruit high-character guys. I just feel that he’s awesome. Awesome kid, awesome player. He’s the full package and we need that at Syracuse.”

As we previously reported last month at the Mary Kline Classic, Virginia-bound guards Kyle Guy and Ty Jerome are working on getting the 6-foot-9 junior from Columbia (MO) Father Tolton to come to Virginia.

“He’s one of the best players in the country regardless of class,” Guy of Lawrence (IN) Central, who has known Porter Jr. since they were young children, told me last month. “The sky’s the limit for him.”

Porter said at the Mary Kline event he planned to visit Virginia while at the Top 100 Camp.

Since then, Moyer has amped up his efforts and Porter Jr. picked up an offer from Syracuse assistant Gerry McNamara.

“That used to be my dream school until I heard about their violations or whatever,” Porter told Syracuse.com. “I don’t really know what they did. But I like the school, I like the style and I can see myself playing in that environment. They’ve always been one of my favorite schools.”

Duke, Kansas, Missouri and Washington are among the other schools involved for Porter. Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar is Porter’s Godfather.
