New St. John’s coach Chris Mullin continues to reach out to top targets for the Class of 2015 and beyond.

A source later told SNY.tv that St. John’s is “locking up a date” to meet with Diallo during the upcoming contact period which runs April 17-23.

cbjhkdnuoaiwlqb-jpg-largeThe 6-foot-9 Diallo won the MVP at the McDonald’s All-American Game on Wednesday with an 18-point, 10-rebound performance in the East’s win.

He is considering St. John’s, Iowa State, Kentucky, Kansas and Pitt. St. John’s assistant Matt Abdelmassih was his lead recruiter at Iowa State.

Mullin and Abdelmassih have been very busy in the last few days. They handed out scholarship offers to 2016 guard Rawle Alkins, 2017 wing Jordan Tucker and 2018 big man Naz Reid, and have reached out to numerous area coaches.

On Thursday, they will visit onetime St. John’s pledge Brandon Sampson in Louisiana before hitting AAU stops in New Orleans and Dallas.
