Fordham sophomore guard Jon Severe has taken a leave of absence from the team to address personal issues, head coach Tom Pecora said.

“We will continue to support Jon as he addresses some personal issues off the court,” said Pecora. “We wish him and his family all the best during this process and hope that everyone will respect their privacy.”

Severe has appeared in three games this year for the Rams, scoring five points and grabbing seven rebounds.

He initially chose Fordham over Pitt, West Virginia, Wake Forest and Rutgers.

Without Severe, the Rams lost Saturday to Maryland Eastern-Shore, 72-66, in a game in which freshman Eric Paschall went for 25 points and six rebounds. Fordham is now 1-4.
