Ivan Rabb is the No. 1 player in the Class of 2015 according to ESPN.com and a potential NBA lottery pick in 2016.

At this point, the 6-foot-10, 210-pound post player from Oakland Bishop O’Dowd is being recruited by a Who’s Who of elite colleges and plans to trim his list later this summer.

“The schools that he has recruiting him are University of California-Berkeley, UCLA, USC, Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, Georgetown and North Carolina,” Bishop O’Dowd coach Lou Richie told SNY.tv Tuesday.

“I think he’s planning on cutting that after the summer after he takes a couple unofficial visits.”

Richie said Rabb would take visits this summer and fall.

“We’re trying to plan unofficial visits to all the schools and we’ll see whether that happens or not,” Richie said.

Rabb, who is ambidextrous, averaged 25 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks while leading his team to a CIF Northern California Open Division title. He was named the San Francisco Chronicle’s All-Metro Player of the Year, but apparently isn’t satisfied with what he’s achieved.

“He’s working out twice a day, lifting weights, trying to get bigger, stronger,” Richie said. “Working on his mid-range and his perimeter game. Shooting between 500 and 1,000 jump shots a day so we’ve noticed a tremendous improvement in his mid-range proficiency and his 3-point proficiency.”

Rabb will continue to play the Nike EYBL circuit alongside fellow Oakland Soldiers big man Stephen Zimmerman. They will be in Dallas this weekend and at Boo Williams next weekend. The Peach Jam is set for July 16-20.

“He’s working harder than anybody else in the country,” Richie said. “His upside is he’s a tremendous person. He’s a tremendous talent. He’s consistently showing tremendous work ethic, so I think his upsdie is huge

“Any time you’re an elite player and you have an elite work ethic that’s huge. So he’s working on his weaknesses and working on his moves to the basket with his right hand.  He shoots right-handed, he drives left. He’s working on his consistency on tis jump shot. His improvement has been incredible.”
