    New Hampton (N.H.) power forward Noah Vonleh has cut his list to six schools and set several visits, but he is not expected to sign a National Letter of Intent in November, his head coach told SNY.tv Thursday.

    The 6-foot-9 Vonleh — who recently reclassified to 2013 from 2014 — is down to UConn, Georgetown, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio State and Syracuse.

    He will tentatively visit Syracuse Nov. 2-4 and Indiana the weekend of Nov. 9-11, New Hampton coach Pete Hutchins said.

    The good news just keeps rolling in for John Calipari and company.

    Calipari said on ESPN Wednesday that prized freshman center Nerlens Noel “is cleared to practice and cleared to play games.”

    The NCAA seconded Calipari’s statement in an email to USA Today.

    SNY.tv reported last week that the 6-foot-10 Noel — a projected lottery pick in the 2013 NBA Draft — had been cleared on the academic side but the NCAA was still looking into amateurism issues related to his recruitment.

    SI.com reported that the NCAA was looking into how Noel paid for various unofficial visits.

    The Noel news comes on the heels of Kentucky landing prized twins Aaron and Andrew Harrison and Michigan shooting guard James Young for the class of 2013. Later Wednesday, they added

    NEW YORK –– The Big East Conference and Madison Square Garden have agreed to a multiyear extension of their contract that will keep The Big East Championship at the Garden.

    The news was first reported by the New York Post, which reported that the contract was extended through the 2025-26 season. A source confirmed that timeframe to SNY.tv.

    Madison Square Garden has been the home of The Big East Championship since 1983.  It is the longest running conference tournament at the same site in college basketball.

    This year’s event will have 14 teams because the league now has 15 basketball teams and UConn is facing a postseason ban. Next year’s tournament could include as many as 18 teams, once Memphis, Temple, SMU, Houston and UCF join and Syracuse and Pittsburgh leave.

    NEW YORK – Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim and Louisville coach Rick Pitino both think the other is “full of s**t.”

    Their spirited exchange was the highlight of Big East Media Day at the New York Athletic Club.

    The two Hall of Famers got into a friendly war of words stemming over the question of whether Memphis and Temple can adequately replace Syracuse when the Orange jump to the ACC in 2013.

    Pitino, who lobbied for Memphis and Temple, says yes.

    Boeheim, who clearly has mixed feelings over the Orange leaving the only league they’ve ever been a part of it, says no.

    Here’s the Preseason Big East Poll. No surprise that a loaded Louisville team is a unanimous No. 1.

    Marcus Lee’s commitment to Kentucky Wednesday may well have been informed in part by his preexisting friendship with the Harrison twins.

    Lee visited Kentucky this past weekend for Big Blue Madness, and the twins were there as well.

    “I think the Harrisons help a little but just because he has that previous relationship with them, and there is sort of a comfort level,” Bryan Lee, Marcus’s brother, told SNY.tv Tuesday night. “I think he trusts the way they play.”
