  • After initially saying they would announce their college choice Oct. 29, the Harrison Twins have switched gears and will now likely pull the trigger for either Kentucky or Maryland Thursday on ESPNU.

“Thursday will be the toughest decision I ever had to make but I’m looking forward to it,” Andrew Harrison Tweeted.

Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon will have an in-home visit with the twins Wednesday night, Aaron Harrison Sr. told Scout.com.

The twins are ranked the No. 4 and 5 prospects on the Sheridan Hoops Top 20 Prep Prospects list.

After initially naming a Top 5 of Kentucky, Maryland, SMU, Baylor and Villanova, the twins cut their list to three, with SMU considered an extreme longshot.

James Young enjoyed his weekend visit to Kentucky and is considering taking an official visit there Oct. 12 for Big Blue Madness.

“That is the date that we’re looking at,” Sean Mahone, Young’s Godfather, told SNY.tv Monday. “We haven’t committed to it but that’s the date that I know we were asked.”

Kentucky is also expected to host 6-9 California 2013 forward Marcus Lee and 2014s Cliff Alexander and JaQuan Lyle, and may also host the Harrison Twins. Lee is down to Kentucky and California and had an in-home visit Sunday with Cal coach Mike Montgomery.

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Within the span of about five minutes Monday, Carmelo Anthony said he was willing to “sacrifice” to help the Knicks offense, but then quickly reversed course and said not to take his comments “out of context.”

“For me, I’m done trying to score 30 or 35 or 40 points for us to win a basketball game,” Anthony said Monday at media day.

“I don’t want that role anymore. I can do it. It is what it is, that’s what I do best. But in order for this team to be successful with the guys that we have on this team right now, we need a more well-rounded team. So if I have to sacrifice doing some things out there on the offensive end I’m willing to do it.”

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — In their first public comments on Jeremy Lin since the point guard signed with the Houston Rockets in mid-July, the Knicks say they wish him luck but are happy with the team they have.

“I’m not going to discuss Jeremy Lin,” Knicks coach Mike Woodson said Monday at media day.

“I think as a franchise we wish Jeremy nothing but the best with the process that he went through. And we were able to get a player by the name of Raymond Felton and a guy by the name of Jason Kidd and Pablo [Prigioni] in here. Thee solid point guards that I think will help our ballclub as we move down the road as an organization.
