  • PENNINGTON, N.J. — Davon Reed, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Princeton (N.J.) Day School, is looking to cut his list sometime this summer.

At the Mary Kline Classic last weekend, Reed told SNY.tv that his current list includes Wake Forest, UConn, Seton Hall, Georgetown, Xavier, Miami and Harvard, plus “a lot of other schools.”

He added Tuesday that “Louisville started recruiting me.”

Within about a month or so, the Rivals No. 13 shooting guard in the Class of 2013 plans to trim his list so it’s in the “five to seven range.”

**I could update this with still more profane and inane Twitter comments, but why bother? Instead, this post has been updated with Anthony’s responses to the stupidity.**

Keep in mind that Anthony Bennett is a high school senior — a teenager — at Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep.

Yet after SNY.tv broke the news Sunday night that the 6-foot-7 Bennett had eliminated Kentucky from his college list and is now down to UNLV and Oregon, some college basketball “fans” took to Twitter to insult and rip him.

“you made the worst decision life your are clearly mentaly ill going to a sh—- team hopefully you play Uk you need an A–whooping,” some clown named @Craig37466188 wrote.

Just a few days after landing Western Kentucky transfer Derrick Gordon, UMass coach Derek Kellogg landed a commitment from 7-foot-2, 215-pound Isaac Freeman of South Kent (Conn.).

Freeman, who averaged 14.7 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 7.5 blocks last season at Osbourn High (Va.), before transferring to South Kent, chose UMass over DePaul, Drexel and UCF.

“What made me choose UMass is their style of basketball,” he said by text. “They are uptempo with the game and run the floor very well. I loved their campus and I immediately could see myself going to school there and being part of their basketball program.

Sophomore guard Jordan Clarkson is transferring to Missouri from Tulsa, CBSSports.com reports.

“I’m comfortable with Coach [Frank] Haith and the team,” Clarkson, who averaged 16.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists, told CBS. “Coach Haith’s had a lot of success with transfers and it just felt like the right place for me.”

A first-team All-Conference USA first-team last season, the 6-foot-4, 185-pound Clarkson also considered  UCLA and Illinois.

As one might expect from a disciple of Hall of Fame head coach Bob Knight, Mike Woodson is a blue collar, old school-type of coach.

He stresses defense, he prefers rookies and young players be seen but not heard and he is willing to hold players accountable for their actions in what is largely a player-driven NBA.

All of those attributes helped save the Knicks’ season when he was named interim head coach in the wake of Mike D’Antoni resigning on March 14.
