  • In this edition of ‘The Big East Report,’ Aquille Carr, known as “The Crime-Stopper” talks about his decision to commit to Seton Hall and what his future goals are.

“I always liked Seton Hall, I always liked how they ran their offense, I always liked how Coach [Kevin] Willard coached,” Carr, a 2013 point guard from Baltimore (Md.) Patterson, told SNY.tv. “Me and Coach Willard got a really good relationship, so that’s why I picked Seton Hall.”

The 5-foot-7, 150-pound Carr also held offers from Baylor, Memphis, Maryland, Texas and Louisville.

St. John’s is hoping for a two-for-one in the case of Jamal Branch.

The 6-foot-3, 170-pound Texas A&M transfer chose the Johnnies over Marquette, Maryland, UCLA and Arizona, and now he’s hoping to get his friend, 6-8 power forward Ricardo Gathers, to join him.

“I’m going to be working on him real hard,” Branch told SNY.tv in the above interview Wednesday. “Our whole goal is to win a national title, and to win that you gotta have people that surround other great players and I think Ricardo would help give us that push.”

NEWARK — Fuquan Edwin recalls being 13 years old when the Paterson (N.J.) Police Dept. roared into his home in the Alabama projects and made Edwin and his entire family get down on the floor.

“They were looking for somebody, actually, and they came to my house,” Edwin told SNY.tv exclusively after he scored a career-high 28 points to go with nine rebounds as No. 24 Seton Hall crushed DePaul, 94-73, Tuesday night. “They were in full armor. They told everybody to get on the floor.”

**PROGRAMMING NOTE: Seton Hall commit Aquille Carr and St. John’s transfer Jamal Branch will be my guests Wednesday on The Big East Report on SNY.tv. Check back here for the video interviews.**

After announcing via Twitter that he is headed to Seton Hall in 2013, Baltimore Patterson point guard Aquille Carr discussed his commitment Tuesday with the Baltimore Sun.

“It feels great knowing that I had a top school looking at me,” Carr, the 2011 Baltimore Sun All-Metro boys basketball Player of the Year, told the paper. “I feel good being able to commit to the school.”

He added: “I just figured that it was about time to pick a school, narrow it down to the school that’s right for me.”

Carr was supposed to hold a press conference Thursday but has instead cancelled it. He will appear via phone on SNY.tv Wednesday.

    GREENBURGH, N.Y.
    — The Knicks chose Iman Shumpert with the No. 17 pick in last year’s NBA Draft, but Tyson Chandler and Carmelo Anthony both feel the team got a steal.

“Definitely, definitely,” Chandler said Tuesday at the Knicks practice facility. “I watched the draft and I watched a lot of guys go early in the draft, and I feel like to me he’s displayed the most confidence out of any guard besides….the No. 1 pick, Kyrie [Irving].

“But other than that, as far as the guard position, I haven’t seen anybody play with as much confidence as those two.”
