  • Gaston, Brothers Named A-10 Co-Players of the Week

    The Atlantic 10 named Fordham junior forward Chris Gaston and Richmond junior guard Darien Brothers its Co-Players of the Week.

    La Salle’s Jerrell Wright was also Rookie of the Week.

    Gaston, scored a career-high 35 points, surpassing his previous career best of 32 in the Rams’ win over Texas State. The Union City, N.J. native also pulled down 15 rebounds, notching his NCAA leading ninth double-double of the year and the 45th of his career. 

    Brothers averaged 31.5 points per game on the week, shooting 17-of-31 from the floor and 12-of-21 from 3-point range. He scored a career-high 38 points, making 9-of-15 from the field and 7-for-11 from beyond the arc in a 90-82 overtime win over Old Dominion. Brothers, a Richmond, Va., native, followed that up with 25 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and 5-for-10 from long range at UCLA on Friday. He added eight rebounds, two assists and three steals for the week.

    Wright opened the week with an 11-point, eight-rebound performance against Delaware, registering two blocks. He followed that with a career-high 21 points to lead La Salle to a win over Central Connecticut State, pulling down nine rebounds in the process.  The Philadelphia native also dished out three assists versus CCSU. He shot 14-of-22 (.636) in the two games while recording two blocks.
