NEW YORK — Sherrod Wright sometimes hears from his friends in the city that Mount Vernon of Westchester County can’t compete with the New York City basketball powerhouses.
He won’t be hearing that much longer.
The 6-foot-4 Wright poured in a game-high 28 points to lift Mount Vernon to a dominating 70-54 victory over St. Raymond of The Bronx in the SNY Invitational championship at NYU’s Coles Center.
