Virginia fired Dave Leitao on Monday, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

Leitao, the 2007 ACC Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year, made just one appearance in the NCAA Tournament in four seasons on campus.

Virginia finished 10-18 overall, 4-12 in the ACC this year, good for 11th place.

One candidate for the job could be Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel, who started his coaching career at Virginia Commonwealth. Capel’s Sooners are a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Xavier’s Sean Miller is reportedly  another possibility, according to Jeff Goodman of Fox.
