Duke added yet another versatile, multi-faceted forward on Sunday when Semi Ojeleye committed during his home visit with Coach K.
A 6-foot-7, 220-pound small forward from Ottawa, Kansas High ranked No. 18 at his position by Rivals, Ojeleye said he chose Duke over Indiana, Oregon and Stanford.
“Talking to my family and friends it just felt right,” he said by phone Sunday night after Scout.com first reported the news.
Ojeleye said Coach K, who is coming off winning an Olympic gold medal this summer with LeBron, Kobe, KD, Carmelo and company, plans to remain in constant touch going forward.
“He just said from here on out we’ll be talking a lot more than he was even talking to me when he was recruiting me,” Ojeleye said. “He’s going to try to develop me as soon as possible to try to get me as good as possible before I get there.”
Duke now has a several versatile forwards going forward for 2013, including Alex Murphy, Amile Jefferson, Rodney Hood and Ojeleye, all of whom are 6-6 to 6-8.
“[Coach K] just said I can play multiple positions and they have a lot of guys there that can play multiple positions,” he said.
“It’s a matter of putting guys together and trying to win games.”
Duke is also involved with forwards Julius Randle and Jabari Parker, the top two players in the Class of 2013, as well as forwards Austin Nichols and Ish Wanwright and guard Robert Hubbs, but Ojeleye said he has no plans to actively recruit them.
“I think Coach K and his staff will do a great job of recruiting whoever they want,” he said. “Whoever wants to come will come.”
