Four-star forward Philipe Ndong has committed to play for Shaka Smart and Marquette, DraftExpress first reported on Thursday.
Ndong, who’s a Spanish-born German-Senegalese senior at the Newman School (MA), chose the Golden Eagles over Creighton, South Florida and Hofstra, among others.
At 6-foot-8, Ndong played for the Middlesex Magic on the Under Armour circuit this past summer, averaging 10.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game for the well-known New England program.
Marquette reporter Ben Steele has compared Ndong’s game to that of a former fan-favorite, Oso Ighodaro, who’s currently playing for the Phoenix Suns.
In Adam Finkelstein’s breakdown of Ndong, he called the rising senior “a developmental project,” with potential as a shooter and passer at the next level.
During his junior season at Newman, Ndong averaged 13.3 points per game, but saw his shooting take a jump this summer, knocking down 38% of his threes on the Under Armour circuit.
Ndong is Smart’s second pickup in the class of 2027, joining four-star guard Marlon Martinez, who committed to the Golden Eagles in August.
