Four-star guard Kellen Brewer is headed to play for Joe Pasternack at UC Santa Barbara, ESPN’s Jeff Borzello first reported on Wednesday.
The son of former NBA veteran Corey Brewer, he is the Gauchos’ highest-ranked recruit since rankings became tracked in 2007.
Entering his senior season at Metairie Park Country Day (LA), Brewer chose UCSB over the likes of Saint Mary’s and Ohio.
At 6-foot-5, Brewer averaged 12.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while playing for LivOn on the Nike EYBL circuit this past summer.
Brewer will look to both follow in the footsteps of his father, who won a national title and Florida and is forever cemented in college basketball history, while also entering Santa Barbara next season as the Gauchos’ most talented recruit in program history.
In the class of 2027, Brewer is the Gauchos’ first commit, kickstarting another recruiting class for Pasternack.
In 247Sports’ composite rankings, Brewer is rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the No. 87 overall prospect in the nation.
